The Miracle on Ice: 1980 Winter Olympics Men's Hockey Semifinal

Soviet Union vs. United States
Coming into the games, the Soviet Union team, gold medal winners in the last four Olympics, were heavily favored to win again. The U.S. team was made up of college players and long-shot professional aspirants, while the Soviet team was made up of some of the best players in the world.
However, the Americans were well coached by Herb Brooks, and they knew that even though they were extreme underdogs, they could still win. Powered by a pair of goals from Mark Johnson and excellent goalie play by Jim Craig, the U.S. beat the Soviets 4-3 to advance to the Gold Medal game.
