Relation to the Theme

The dictionary definition of diplomacy is "The conduct by government officials of negotiations and other relations between nations." The Cold War is a prime example of that, as negotiations between the Soviet Union and the United States lasted for about 40 years. Verbal debates between the two countries also were conducted, like the invasion and withdrawal of Soviet troops in Afghanistan. Therefore, the topic of the Cold War relates to both parts of the theme.
